Houseplants With Green And Pink Leaves
Pink and green indoor plants are becoming more and more popular as we realise that houseplants don’t just have to be green but come in a variety of beautiful colours such as red and green houseplants or houseplants with purple and green leaves. But today we’re all about those vibrant pink plants so let’s take a look at our favourite green and pink houseplants.
Stromanthe
Our number one favourite houseplant with pink and green leaves is the Stromanthe, sometimes known as the Calathea Triostar even though it doesn’t belong to the Calathea family. This truly is a show stopping plant with it’s dramatic foliage. The upperside of the leaves looks like someone has painted white brushstrokes on top of the green leaves while the underside is a vibrant bright pink.
Caladium
This might be our strangest looking entry of houseplants with green and pink leaves. Caladium have super thin delicate leaves that almost look like paper. They come in a variety of colours but of course the one we’re after is the pink and green one. Out of all of the plants we’ve mentioned in this article, this one is probably the most interesting if you’re looking for something that your friends don’t have.
Hoya Carnosa Krimson Princess
This tricolour Hoya is the reason that many people fall in love with this species of plant. The plants tend to start off green and then the pink and white variagation comes from the inside. This is a truly beautiful plant and Hoyas aren’t too difficult to look after, it can just be a bit tricky to get them to bloom.
Nerve Plant
The Nerve Plant gets its name from the delicate webbing of pink lines that make it look like nerve endings, its botanical name is Fittonia Albivenis. These plants are perfect for terrariums as they do well with higher levels of humidity and don’t grow to be all that large.
Calathea Dottie
Calathea Dottie is our little punky plant with leaves that are nearly black and bright pink piping. Calathea are notoriously difficult to care for but if you use filtered water, keep the humidity high and water your plant fairly regularly then you should be able to make a good start.
Calathea Sanderiana
People don’t tend to think of the Calathea Sanderiana as a houseplant with pink and green leaves as the majority of the foliage is a rich dark green except for delicate stripes of pink that look like they’ve been painted on giving it the nickname Pinstripe Calathea.
Prayer Plant
Just like the Calathea Sanderiana, the majority of the Prayer Plant‘s leaves are green with painted pink stripes to give it a bit of character. The appearance of the Prayer Plant is a classic one that is recognised all over the plant community.
So there you have our favourite houseplants with green and pink leaves, we hope you liked them and if you think there are any pink and green indoor plants that we missed off the list and deserve a mention then please let us know in the comments below.
