Making a new Yucca plant can be done through division. The plant will put out new growth and a pup will shoot up out of the soil looking like a mini Yucca next to the mother plant. Once this is established simply take the plant out of its pot and gently kneed away the soil separating the roots. Be careful not to break any of the larger roots as they will both need established root systems to survive. Once the new plant has been separated from the original it’s time for repotting.

Keeping a Yucca plant as a houseplant is a relatively simple thing to do. They don’t require much care, they’re hardy plants and they look good in pretty much any room. Our main tip for looking after your plant would be to allow the soil to dry out between watering. If the tips start to droop then this could be a sign that they need a bit more watering. They also like to be kept warm and they enjoy bright light conditions, so keep an eye on the temperature in your home and make sure they have a good spot near a window.

Yucca plants aren’t just kept indoors as houseplants. They grow to fantastic sizes outdoors when found in their natural environments and there are so many different species out there. Here are some great pictures of Yucca plants outdoors in their natural habitats.
