Welcome To The Palm Centre
Being located quite high in the northern hemisphere there is one type of plant that we don’t see too much of out in the wild and that is palms. Luckily thanks to central heating we can now keep many different species of palms as houseplants. So we have dedicated this whole page to palms, their care, different types.
Palm Lighting!
One important thing to note is that although you will find many species of palm in sunny locations round the world you don’t necessarily want to be keeping your palm in direct sunlight. If the sun is too strong it can burn the fronds on your palm. Instead opt for a bright area that doesn’t receive too much direct sun.
Palm Watering
Palms won’t do well if you overwater them but a regular watering routine that keeps soil lightly moist will help your palms to thrive.
Most Common Houseplant Palms
Some of the most common palms that are kept as houseplants include the following:
- Kentia Palm
- Majesty Palm
- Ponytail Palm
- Cascade Palm
- Bamboo Palm
- Areca Palm
Although many palms have similar care requirements it is important to remember that they are different types of plants and therefore the care they need won’t be identical. With this in mind it’s important that you read about the care needs for individual plants when you get them rather than just one overall palm care guide.
