Who Is The Admin Behind OSERA?
Hi I’m Hayley and I’m the brains behind OSERA. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved plants. My parents didn’t really like houseplants but they let me help in the garden. I would spend hours watering plants and picking out weeds with my dad and I just assumed that everyone was the same.
Then when I went to University I moved to halls where I obviously didn’t have a garden and the city I lived in was very built up and grey. Suddenly my life wasn’t green anymore and it really got me down!
So my mum bought me a Peace Lily to cheer me and from there I fell in love with houseplants. I ordered some succulents and then a rubber plant. My room suddenly became like the green jungles you see so much on instagram nowadays. My friends teased me but they always bought me houseplants as gifts and my collection grew.
When I graduated I took them with me to my new flat where I had a lot more space and continued with my love of plants. My parents were so impressed that they started to collect houseplants too.
My biggest regret was that I hadn’t studied botany at University. As I got my first job my interest in my field began to decline as my interest in plants continued to grow. Which is why I started OSERA. I wanted an outlet to talk about plants and to engage with them outside of my home.
At first I thought it would be a simple blog but our readership grew and we took on more writers. Currently I’m still at my other job but working towards OSERA being my main income. Eventually we want to open up our very own plant shop but that will have to wait a bit longer.
Thank you to everyone who comes to my website to learn about plants. Seeing our daily visitors grow is what gives me continued motivation to keep contributing to this site.
And hopefully we will be able to give you something back in the way of useful information on how to care for your houseplants. I always want our readers to engage with the site so if you ever have any questions never hesitate to ask.
