Humidifiers For Alocasia
Humidifiers for Alocasia help you to keep a plant that is used to the high humidity of the tropics in your home no matter where you live. Alocasia are becoming one of the most popular species of houseplant and it’s easy to see why. They are bold, they are beautiful, they vary from each other and some of the more spectacular ones look almost prehistoric. But with such beautiful plants comes more difficult care requirements, one of which is that these plants like to be kept humid.
Coming from the tropics they really need a minimum of 60% humidity but really the higher the better. Many people in north America and Europe just can’t achieve those levels of humidity in their home without some additional help. Getting a humidifier for Alocasia is a great solution to this as the usual tactics like pebble trays, misting and containers full of water might just not be enough. And if you don’t provide your plant with enough humidity you’ll start to see brown, crispy tips then eventually the plant might start losing leaves and die.

The Levoit 6L capacity humidifier is our favourite for tropical plants like Alocasia as it is able to pump out so much water vapour, is so easy to use and you can preset the level of humidity you want in your room. So if you have a plant like an Alocasia that needs humidity above 60%, you can set your humidifier at something like 70% and it will automatically turn off and on to keep the room at that level. The levoit humidifier comes with a heftier price tag than many other humidifiers but with its amazing features plus the fact that you only need to refill it every few days depending on your usage we think it’s really worth it.
- 4L capacity – smaller than the 6L model but still a good capacity for a cheaper price
- Aromatherapy option if you want to add essential oils
- Automatic switch off when the humidifier runs out of water
- 3 mist speed setting
- Adjustable nozzle with 360 degree turn
- Easy clean and refill
The 4L model is a perfect humidifier for Alocasia if you’re looking for something slightly cheaper. Many of the cheaper models come with small capacities where as the more economial Levoit model still has a 4L tank for 40 hours continuous use on a low setting. This model is a great option if you have a smaller room that you need to provide humidity for and can service several plants at once.
Features
- Convenient top refill
- Low noise output so easy to sleep while running
- Cool mist
- Warm light
- Humidifier and diffuser in one
- 2.5L
A final option of humidifiers for Alocasia is this calming model from Air Expect with its warm light. This is among the cheaper humidifiers but comes with great features like being able to refill it from the top and the calming warm glow. It’s a great model if you’re new to humidifiers and you don’t want to spend a lot of money but you want to help your plants.
Whichever humidifier for Alocasia you choose will depend on your individual needs. If you have large rooms, many plants, little time and you want a great model then we couldn’t recommend the 6L Levoit more. If you have a smal office with a couple of plants, you don’t mind refilling your humidifier daily and you want something cute to sit on your desk then maybe one of the other options would be better for you.

Is it sufficient to use a small personal humidifier close to the plant?
Hayley says
This could be enough for your plant if it’s quite close. If you are going to use a small humidifier then I would suggest placing your plant in a smaller room if possible and trying to keep the doors closed to keep the humidity in the room with the plant.
Just keep an eye on your plant, if you start to notice crispy tips then you might want to reconsider, but if your plant’s doing well then I see no reason to change anything.
