Indoor Plant With Red And Green Leaves

September 21, 2020 by Hayley Leave a Comment

We all love a green foliage but there’s nothing like a pop of colour to really make a plant stand out. An indoor plant with red and green leaves can be the perfect way to add colour to any room. Red is a vibrant colour that makes a statement and can change the whole look of a plant display.

Fittonia Albivenis – Red Variety

The Fittonia Albivenis, otherwise known as the nerve plant is a delicate little plant that comes in a variety of colours. With green being the base colour and speckles of other colours decorating the leaves. The plant comes in white, red, pink and more. It’s a dainty plant that can be difficult to look after and sometimes needs a little extra care but makes a wonderful desk plant. You can either keep it as your statement indoor plant with red and green leaves or keep it with other nerve plants. Either way, it’s an attractive and popular houseplant to keep.

Ponsettia

The Ponsettia doesn’t quite count as the red is on the flowers rather than the leaves but as the leaves resemble foliage we thought we would include it. Ponsettias are incredibly common around Christmas time and are often thought of as the Christmas plant after Holly and Mistletoe. But we think they’re a wonderful plant and should be kept after Christmas. Not only do they have the beautiful vibrant red but the leaves are also an incredibly rich green.

Croton Petra

This fantastic plant resembles something from prehistoric times and not only is an indoor plant with red and green leaves but also comes in vibrant yellows and oranges too. The Croton Petra is increasing in popularity and is becoming a common houseplant that you should be able to find in most plant stores within major cities. And if you struggle to find it in your local plant shop then you should have some luck online as more and more shops are stocking it.

Peperomia Rubella

If you’ve visited us before you’ll know we absolutely love Peperomia plants and the Peperomia Rubella is no exception. Not only are these plants easy to look after, they put out growth very quickly and they look absolutely fantastic. These plants differ from the other ones we’ve mentioned in that rather than the red and green being a patterned effect, the plants foliage is green on the top and red underneath.

Photinia Red Robin

Photinia is a beautiful plant that can be kept outdoors and endure cooler temperatures. It is an evergreen shrub meaning it will keep it’s beautiful rich foliage year round. You can plant this shrub in sun or partial shade.

We hope you like this collection of red and green leaved houseplants but don’t just stop there. There are amazing plants with a variety of coloured foliage, try looking at white and green leaves, purple and green leaves, pink and green, and all the other amazing colours out there.
