Plants That Grow Fast Indoors
So you’re looking for plants that grow fast indoors? Presumably you don’t want to spend a huge amount on plants that are already large and instead are looking for smaller plants that will grow very quickly to fill your indoor space with beautiful green foliage? If so then you’re in luck. Here we have a list of some of our favourite plants that grow fast indoors. There are definitely other plants like this available but these are ones we have a certain fondness for and they’re common enough that you should be able to find least one of them in your local plant shop or nursery.
Pothos
If you’re looking for a trailing plant that grows fast indoors then the Pothos could be the plant for you. During the growing season, the Pothos will just keep putting out new growth. If it’s kept under the right conditions you could see around two feet of growth per year. You might even find that your Pothos grows so quickly you either need to start cutting it back pretty sharpish or it’s time for propagating. A great tip with the Pothos is to propagate the ends and then replant them in the same pot. This will give your plant a full bushy look rather than looking sparse at the top.
Asparagus Fern
Ferns tend to grow quickly anyway but the Asparagus Fern doesn’t seem to stop. What starts off as a dainty, feathery, little plant will soon become a monster. You will soon have a tall, bushy fern that can be a great shelf filler. If you want to make more Asparagus Ferns as this plant grows and grows then propagation can be done through root division.
Philodendron Scandens
Another great trailing option is the Philodendron Scandens. There are many species of Philodendron and lots of them grow fairly quickly but the vining plants seem to put out more noticeable growth because they just keep getting longer and longer. Philodendron Scandens can make a beautiful display when paired with Pothos.
Spider Plant
Number four of the plants that grow fast indoors is the Spider Plant. The Spider Plant was an incredibly popular plant in the 70s and then suddenly it was everywhere! That’s because it grows incredibly quickly and puts out little pups that are easy to propagate. Soon people were taking cuttings of these plants to make more and more and eventually Spider Plants filled homes and apartments of 70s families everywhere. The Spider Plant may have dipped in popularity but if you’re looking for a retro plant then this could be the one for you.
Snake Plant
If you’re looking to add some height to your collection then the Snake Plant might be the option. Not only is it a fast growing houseplant, but it also grows straight upwards. What start as small plants can become huge statement plants in your home. And if you want to make more propagation can be done by root division or taking a cuting.
Jade Plant
Our final entry of plants that grow fast indoors is the Jade Plant. Not all succulents grow very quickly even though they’re easy to take care of but one that does put out a lot of new growth is the Jade Plant. The Jade Plant will grow quickly and large and can be propagated easily to make more beautiful plants. It’s definitely one of our favourites.
So there you have our selection of plants that grow fast indoors. Now you have some ideas you can buy some small houseplants and watch them grow over the next year until your home is filled with luscious greenery. Getting plants that grow fast indoors can be a great way to save some money rather than buying slow growing plants that are already enormous for lots of money.
