Can a beginner look after a Hoya Curtisii or is it the type of plant that needs a bit more advanced care? Well the good news for you is that although a Hoya Curtisii isn’t as easy to look after as a cactus it is still a plant that requires a relatively low level of care which means it’s more than appropriate for a beginner.
One of the things that makes it appropriate for beginners is that it doesn’t need to be watered all that often. In fact it prefers to dry out between waterings which means if you’re the type of person that forgets to water your plants or you just don’t want to be tending to them all of the time then you don’t need to worry because they would rather go longer without water than be overwatered. Just make sure that when you do water them you give them a thorough drink that they can soak up.
The second thing that makes these houseplants relatively low effort and therefore easy for a beginner is that they don’t need to be repotted often either. Again compared to other houseplants Hoya Curtisii aren’t super fast growers. So you should be able to wait a year between repotting or potentially even longer.
One thing that might make this plant a bit trickier for beginners is that they prefer a higher level of humidity. However if you buy a humidifier and set it going then it can do most of the work for your and this shouldn’t really affect how difficult this houseplant is to care for.
