When looking for pruning scissors for peperomia plants, it’s important that you choose a pair of sharp scissors so that when you take a cutting or trim your plant back you make a nice clean cut. Ragged cuts can be more difficult to heal and you risk more chances of dirt getting in which can cause rot. It’s also important that no matter which pruning scissors you choose, you make sure that they are clean before using them. This will also help prevent rot in your plant. If you don’t have gardening scissors for peperomia and you don’t want to buy any then just make that the pair you use are sharp. There’s nothing wrong with using other scissors for trimming your plant as long as you make sure they’re clean and sharp.
When To Prune A Peperomia
Now you have the scissors you just need to know when to prune a peperomia. For a start we would recommend pruning your plant during the spring or summer so that it has plenty of time to recover during the growing season. In addition to that there are two major times when you would trim your plant; if you had problems with a leggy peperomia or if you wanted to propagate your plant.
If your Peperomia is leggy then feel free to trim away the elongated stems but it’s important to know that this is normally caused by a lack of sufficient light. So in addition to trimming your plant you may want to move it to a brighter spot to prevent the issue from repeating.
If you want to propagate your plant then this can be done easily. Simply take a stem cutting with one or more leaves in tact. Then either place it in water or straight into soil. If you place it in water you will be able to see the roots growing which can be very exciting. Once the roots are around two inches long it’s time to plant it. Not all cuttings will take so it’s best to take a few to be sure you get at least one that works.
